We are delighted that artist and master craftswoman Dorrie Joy is coming to Chater Valley Farm on Friday and Saturday, November 29th & 30th to lead a drum-making course. Dorrie is a Somerset based artist, sculptor, craftswoman, weave, dancer and dreamer, whose work encompasses a rich and deep tapestry. She loves creating with people of all ages and races, in celebration of our shared indigeny, our gifts, our uniqueness. She brings a colourful blend of warmth, humour, empathy, clarity and intuition into well prepared practical workshop space, immersed in art, altars and beautiful wild surroundings. She offers this ceremonial drum making course as a deeply personal elemental journey, beginning with a fire ceremony on the Friday evening and continuing for a full day on Saturday. The price of the workshop is approximately £250, dependent on materials used, which are all carefully, ethically and locally sourced, and hand prepared with honour and care. Through working closely with these organic materials, she specialises in helping people to make drums that are intimate reflections of the unique beings we all are. Dorrie's usually offers a 16" deer drum as standard for the workshop, but can also offer 14" and 18" frames and goat, reindeer, horse and buffalo skins. Please contact Dorrie directly if you'd like to opt for a different size or skin for your drum. Email dorriejoy@hotmail.co.uk, telephone 07842 286779 https://www.dorriejoy.co.uk/workshops
